There are easier, faster and more economical ways to build a boat, we know this, but we wouldn’t be Faurby if we built boats that way, we couldn’t call ourselves craftsmen, and we couldn’t say we’ll build your boat the best way we know.
We take pride in every boat we create because we want you to be proud of your yacht, so you know you made the right decision by letting us build your dream boat.

The sailors’ deck saloon

The elegant Performance Cruiser

Why Choose Faurby?

Whether you choose a Deck Saloon or Performance Cruiser, our Danish craftsmen will hand-build your next yacht to your specifications with astounding attention to detail. Whether you’d like it to have an interior honed from mahogany, teak, oak or another wood of your choice, you can choose the layout, finish, styling and materials.

Our fast, safe, practical yachts provide better all-round performance and enhanced handling characteristics, making your sailing more comfortable, enjoyable, and faster. Many of our yachts are sailed by couples. Therefore, sail handling in the cockpit is focused around the helm, allowing the person steering to trim sails without having to leave the tiller/wheel or keep asking for help.

Whether you prioritise unbelievable windward performance or wonderful panoramic views, we’ll create a sailboat that is unique and bespoke to you. If you prefer the speed and thrill you get from a yacht optimised for windward performance and enjoyment on the helm, you’ll love our Performance Cruisers, and if you desire living space, views and all the storage you need for bluewater or extended cruising, our Deck Saloon yachts will offer you all this and more.

Why choose a Deck Saloon?

Unsurprisingly, the deck saloon is the key feature of the Faurby Deck Saloon range (formerly known as Nordships). Raising the saloon from low in the boat to deck level lets you enjoy panoramic views and shelter when sailing or at anchor – whatever the weather. Deck saloons have gained popularity with cruising sailors who value their surroundings. Once you’ve cruised on a yacht that shows you so much of the world around you, it’s difficult to ever go back to a yacht with a lower saloon and smaller windows. If you’ve never sailed a Deck Saloon, you literally don’t know what you’re missing.

You also get more spacious cabins and more volume for any given length. For long-term cruisers and those who stay on board for extended periods, our Deck Saloon range offers a more homely feel, with larger cabins, bigger, more comfortable beds and additional storage for clothes, spares and cruising paraphernalia. We offer full-beam aft cabins or the owner’s suite can be located forward, and the aft space divided to accommodate more; on some models, you can choose a mid-cabin, too.

Since merging with Nordship and improving the new Deck Saloon range, we have optimised its performance to make the yachts more enjoyable to sail – they now carry the Faurby name, and nothing sails like a Faurby. While some owners may choose to use autopilots on passage, we know that when you want to helm by hand, our yachts will make you smile. Offering precise feedback, being well-balanced on the wheel and agile on the water makes less work for the helm – whether it’s you or your autopilot.

Why Choose a Performance Cruiser?

After reading how wonderful our Deck Saloon Yachts are, you may wonder why we make another range. Choosing a yacht is all about understanding what you want. While Deck Saloons are outstanding, many sailors are happy to give up space for gains in performance. Our sleek hulls will power to windward like no other cruising yachts; they will point higher and sail faster with less effort.

Owners of our Performance Cruisers (formerly our Faurby Yacht Range) relish in the feeling of joy and satisfaction they get feeling their yacht is performing at her best, only for the breeze to increase and her speed to do the same –leaving them to reconsider what she is really capable of. Our Performance Cruisers are for those who sail for the pure pleasure of sailing; they are yachts that are easy to sail fast. You won’t have to endure mediocre light wind performance and an unbalanced hull shape, as you watch other yachts sail past you. You will be leaving others in your wake.

Usually, a fast yacht means giving up comfort and indulgence in exchange for speed and enjoyment. But on a Faurby, you can have the luxury of a bespoke hand-crafted yacht without compromising performance or feeling on the helm. All our yachts gain stiffness from the interior marine plywood structure laminated to the hull throughout the yacht. Not only is it stiff, but it’s light too. Combine a strong, rigid design with our streamlined hulls, optimised appendages, and generous sail area, and you can see why nothing sails like a Faurby Performance Cruiser.

Philosophy

Our philosophy is clear: we want you to have the very best boat for you and not what’s cheapest to assemble or designed for mass market appeal. Each of our sailboats showcases Scandinavian craftsmanship, Danish design and meticulousness. Put simply, we offer you unlimited, hand-crafted choices. Whether you bring us 12 pages of details or just a few parameters your new boat must fulfil, we’ll work with you to make your dream yacht a reality.

We believe a sailing yacht should be fun to sail, and she should put a smile on your face – whatever the weather. We make our yachts strong and sturdy but also light, giving every yacht a reassuringly solid feel and making them delightful to sail.

Quality

At Faurby, we don’t make our yachts the easy way; we make them the right way, and we pay attention to every detail on board. Each yacht’s interior is handmade - a person, not a computer, cuts every piece of wood. If you want a berth 15cm (6 in) longer, we can do that. Need more headroom?
We can lower the floor and increase the height of the topsides in the mould, just for you. Because our master craftsmen are not bound by the easiest or most cost-effective way of building boats, we can offer you a unique sailing boat. With roots dating back to 1976 and decades of experience in long-distance cruising yachts, Faurby offers a personal, detail-focused approach for sailors who value elegance, quality, safety, individuality and the joy of sailing.

No other boat is a Faurby.
